Selecting the right Madrasa can be challenging for parents. That's why we've created a dedicated FAQ to address your key questions.

Are there any multiple sibling discounts?At present, we only have discounts for students registered in our weekday onsite classes. If you have 3 or more children, the fees will be £35 per month, per child instead of £40 per month. We do not offer sibling discounts on our online and weekend classes.

Is Islamic Studies taught?Yes, we have a Islamic studies curriculum that is varied based upon the age of your child.

Can parents arrange to meet with staff members?Yes. This can be arranged at the end of the day by speaking to the class teacher. Likewise, a meeting with the School Head or Deputy can be arranged at any time.

What safety measures are in place at As-Sunnah Qur'aan School?We take the safety and security of our students very seriously. Our measures include automatically timed entry/exit doors, CCTV cameras, physical security and robust child protection, safeguarding and health and safety measures in place.

How do we keep up to date with events and important dates?As-Sunnah Qur'aan School has a dedicated WhatsApp group where any events, weather based cancellations, exam dates etc will be communicated. This efficient form of communication means that parents always have the most up to date information on issues that relate to their child. Once your child has been registered, we will immediately add them to the WhatsApp group.

Do I need to buy a Madrasa bag and books?Yes, all students must purchase a Madrasa bag from the bookshop. Depending on the level of your child, he\she also needs to purchase the Qaa'idah (called 'Baghdaadia - Easy Quran Reading') or the Mushaf (Qur'aan). You do not need to purchase both. If your child is on the 'Bridge' book, likewise this can be purchased from the adjacent bookstore. The Du'a book will be provided free of charge for new registrants.

Do you have special Tarbiyah programs for the boys or girls?Yes. We have extra Tarbiyah classes on the weekend specifically aimed at boys and girls aged 10-16 and beyond. These classes are designed to nurture the youth by giving them the confidence in their Muslim identity and teach them basic principles of Islam in a 'language they understand.' In addition, we have team building activities to foster community cohesiveness as well as games and quizzes. Our Tarbiyah classes have been a huge success with excellent demand Alhamdulillah. The registration of your child to our Tarbiyah classes must be done by visiting the 'events' page. A small separate fee is required to be paid for these sessions.

Are there any parents evenings?Yes, we have a parents' evening each year in January or February. This opportunity allows you to enquire about the progress of your child and raise any issues, concerns you may have directly to the teacher or the School Head.

Do students memorise Du'as and Surahs?Yes. We have a comprehensive program in place where students regularly memorise Du'as and Surahs based upon their age and ability.

What uniform does my child need to wear at As-Sunnah Qur'aan School?As-Sunnah Qur’aan School believes in a policy of appropriate Islamic clothing which assists in instilling and reinforcing Islamic values and regulations. In addition it helps in maintaining the very highest standards of dress and appearance appropriate to the School. Boys - A clean, plain white thobe above the ankles with a white head cap. There is no stipulation as to what is worn underneath the thobe but the garment must be completely hidden and above the ankles. Girls - A black hijab and abayah. There is no stipulation as to what is worn underneath the jilbaab.

Why do I have to re-register every year?At the end of each academic year, parents must re-register their child. We do this in order to ensure that we have the latest information ie emergency contact numbers, medical issues etc. In addition, it gives you the opportunity to withdraw your child at this junction which means we can give the place to somebody else. Rest assured that priority will always be given to current registrants. In addition, if you want to register another sibling, you will be given the right for first refusal. We understand that parents want to have all their children at one madrasa for practical purposes.

When does your academic year start and end and do you give holidays?Our academic year starts in September and ends in July. We correlate entirely with the public school calendars in Bradford so when they break up, likewise we break up. We have done this as we appreciate that many parents will use these periods to go on holidays, travel etc. Please note, the fees must still be paid during holiday periods as the fees are calculated per full academic year. We have simply given parents the opportunity to break down the payment into monthly chunks.

What are the class sizes?As-Sunnah Qur’aan School has decided to limit the class size to no more than 17-20 students per class, although this maybe lower. This is to focus on quality rather than quantity and allow for effective differentiation to take place. The fees are reflective of the class sizes.

How do I enrol my child an As-Sunnah Qur'aan School?Simply fill out the registration form online and we will be in touch if a place becomes available. Please note, it can be extremely difficult to get a place mid-year as most of the places have been taken. We will only contact you if any places become vacant. Even if you don't secure a place mid-year, your child will still be added to our waiting list for the next academic year. We will contact you between June to August if any places become available. If your child has been offered a place, 2 months of fees must be paid in advance on the day of registration.

Do you have rewards, achievement certificates and competitions?Yes, we have an excellent reward system where each child is given stars in the class for good behaviour, achievement, improvement etc. In addition, one student per class is given a 'star of the week' certificate and this is celebrated with all parents via our dedicated Qur'aan School WhatsApp group. In addition, we have termly assemblies where awards are given out in recognition of achievements. We also run competitions annually. We fundamentally believe that it is important to foster a positive learning environment. At the same time we have a strong behaviour policy in place to act as a deterrent for unruly practice.

What if my child struggles? What support do you offer?The management regularly has pupil progress meetings with the staff to monitor student progress. This ensures that if any interventions are required, this is caught early on. Students who are struggling will be assigned a support staff member and/or an adapted program. We are proud to have an established Alumni program set up where former students come and assist the class teachers.

What is the age range of children who can enrol?As-Sunnah Qur’aan school currently admits boys and girls aged 5-15. The minimum age of acceptance is 5 years old. In exceptional cases, we may consider a 4 year old but this is based upon their level of maturity and independence.

Do you have a Hifth Program in place?Yes we do. Once children are fluent and proficient in the recitation of the Qur'aan, we move them onto an individualised program starting with Juzz Amma. The speed of progress all depends on the commitment level of the child and more importantly the focus of parents at home. Memorisation requires time and dedication and therefore needs to extends beyond the Madrasa hours. We carefully manage these expectations by explaining this to parents via a Hifth contract when they begin.
